Re: Neighbours complaining

Just pin the letters in the communal hallway, together with your own note saying that you would be delighted to discuss the problem, but unfortunately the troubled party forgot to sign their name.

Agreed. Their proof-reading abilities identify them as ideal candidates for YLE's English pages.

Which is understandable and totally acceptable, seeing as the term itself originated in America :)

You've been out of the workplace too long harryc. "Centre of Excellence" is used all over the place.

I'm just relieved it wasn't, "Center of Excellence". Now that would make my eyes bleed.

Re: Shops that sell winter gear for extreme northern weather

I wear Särmä socks throughout the year I have a pair on at the moment. :) Yes merino wool is a winner. Yes it's not cheap, but the performance is excellent. OP, not sure of your level of experience of these outdoor activities. But please assume that you will sweat....a lot. This makes a wicking bas...

Let's wait to see if the BBC comes out with their old favourite, "we may never know what brought this person to commit such a heinous crime". On the subject of self-censorship of the media, here you have Simon Jenkins (ex editor of The Times giving his view: https://youtu.be/bRhJsWe9rjY?t=628 And he...

that there really should be some kind of real interview. I see your point, and as a hunter and competitive shooter, I can give you my view, if you're interested. The real interviews take place when people join shooting clubs (and to a lesser extent, hunting clubs). New shooters have to interract an...

Re: Spread of Drumpfism

Wow - don't even have to meet up with any police! The thing is, that in-person meeting with the police doesn't achieve much at all. All they do is check the information on the paperwork. It's not like the police have some sort of superpower, whereby they can look someone in the eye and immediately ...

Then they've failed in their market analysis. Looking at the shoit most Finns buy (Rainbow et al), they would have been better off shipping in their Value range.

Re: IKEA - "cheats"

I quite understand the OP being annoyed by this. I could see myself making the same mistake, and I would also be annoyed. That would be it though. I would mark it down to my own stupidity and count it as another reinforcement of the old "buyer beware" maxim. Many products change over time, some for...

I went to the Info desk - I told them I had 4 Billy shelves at home - I wanted a fifth one to match. They gave me the shelf location number - aisle 16 spot 18 or something. So you're expecting the poor guy at the info desk to have in-depth knowledge of any detail changes in all of the product lines...

Re: Moving to the UK

The English only have to thank mr. Cameron that put them in this sad state of affairs with his brilliant referendum idea for his own political ambitions; I don't think Cameron wanted a referendum. Referendums tend to give too much democratic power to the electorate and most politicians hate that. T...
