Starfall is excellent, I discovered it after my DD had already taught herself the letter and their sounds, but she still plays on there occasionally.

I didn't find out I was pregnant until I was 6 weeks pg. I wasn't expecting to get pregnant so raced in a triathlon which included swimming in the River Thames (rife with Weils disease and pollution). I also went to a party and drank quite a bit. I also did 2 different 5km races. Sophie is now 2.5yr...

We have/had the Stokke Sleepi, it was excellent until a few months ago when madam declared that it was too small and she wouldn't sleep in it. We had removed the side bars but it wasn't good enough for her. She now has a cabin bed (raised with drawers underneath). Caroline- I would steer clear of co...

I never gave Sophie full fat milk...my local shop didn't stock it so it was easier to get semi skimmed. Neuvola suggested that once off the formula to give her skimmed milk and was surprised when I told her she was having the semi skimmed stuff. The UK is different and recommends full fat milk...I w...

Karen...so glad to hear that Rosie is settling in well, she always loved to be stroked and sleep on our bed. She was a very sweet, affectionate cat. Sophie misses her and Mog a lot but she now has Tiger to keep her occupied. Paula- will send you a pm with my email address. Hope you are both ok. Hi t...

Hello! An update on us!
Hi Everyone, It has been a month since we left Finland so I thought I'd give you an update. Our furniture arrived (as we expected) later than the date planned. Our house that we'd rented out for the past 2 years was in a disgusting state so we spent time repainting whilst waiting for the rest of the...

Goodbye Finland...and Thank you!
In less than 24 hours time we will fly out of Finland after over 2.5 years here. We are very sad to be leaving behind the good friends that we made, the peace and quiet, the countryside, the pace of life and the good quality of life we've come to take for granted. But, it is time to move on and for ...

Soap nuts work just as well, as does a splash of vinegar in place of the fabric conditioner. I wash our clothes on a daily basis (mucky toddler, sporty husband) so I just used to sling the nappies in with the clothes and wash at 40. Hung on the line they dry very quickly. No need to soak the nappies...

€16 will buy you a large packet of Pampers- Pampers is money in the bin, a reusable is one that you can keep using. Start with the muslins/reusable wipes for the first few months- every week buy a new cloth diaper and wrap with the money you save on buying Pampers and wipes- works out the same. An o...

Update on our leaving 'do'
I think the best thing to do is just to meet as usual at Stockmanns on the 21st June...same time, same place. Sophie and I have to fly to the UK on Tuesday (very short notice) for my Grandmother's funeral so we wont be around this week. A night out sometime the following week would be excellent- any...

Personally I would not buy a second hand cot matress, they come in some many sizes that finding one that actually fits your cot is going to be hard, they have to fit well to prevent your rolling baby becoming trapped down the sides. Most cot matresses are made of foam which gets worn, saggy, disinte...

Hi Sophie first flew at 5 weeks old and again at 11 weeks. She was fed on take off and landing and we gave her a pacifier (tutti) for inbetweens. Just take extra clothing for both babies incase of exploding nappies, be prepared for them to poo on descent, also be prepared for them not to sleep on th...
