Re: How to install washing machine in bathroom?

I believe you're also required to include a backflow arrestor ("takaiskuventtiili") between source and intake, so that soapy water can't get sucked into the house pipes.

Re: URGENT Family member traveling to Finland

I wonder how things worked out for the OP. Now (3 months later) the situation is dire in Chile and all of South America. In fact, Chile is in the highest category of Covid-19 prevalence, is in a government-declared state of emergency until Sept 2021, and mostly isn't letting people in or out of the ...

Nice to know that you can't remotely have a debate without resorting to fallacious retorts. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/17/Distillation_by_Retort.png/300px-Distillation_by_Retort.png Throwing cold water on a phallacious retort, circa 1830 Did you intentionally miss...

Re: Buying a summer cottage

We are considering of buying a summer cottage. Is there anything we need to be aware, before we buy it? . . .rasite . . . e.g. a neighboring property might have a right to use a road going through the plot or keep their boat at a certain area on the shoreline (if there's a body of water), the prope...

Re: Some questions about construction standards in Finland

Not sure if the subject makes any sense, but basically I have just moved into a rivitalo (I have never lived in one before so I wanted to try something new :D), and there are something I'm not quite sure about what is considered "normal" for rivitalo Based on the blueprint, it's built app...

Re: I wanna say 'for several days (for many days)' but it seems complicated. PLZ help!!

Where does usea fall on the scale between muutama and moni ? In English, I see little if any difference between several and a few — certainly no difference that is consistent across different speakers. At most, while indicating the same number of days, several could, for some speakers, suggest it's ...

Re: Abortion/having baby

Hello! I recently discovered that I'm pregnant. I'm not sure about weeks, but maybe is something like 2/3 weeks. The thing is that I would like to have the baby, but at the moment it seems impossible to me, cause I'm still going at integration plan. And in April I'll start studying at TAKK. My finn...

Re: Noisy washing machine

I love the washing machine bought when I moved in, a top loading type with a rotating drum inside (we never have that in East Asia!), but when it's drying clothes there are really loud noises like knocking inside several times. Now I'm afraid of using it in early morning or after 9pm because of tha...

You'd think the country would want such an airline named something else. Elf Air, maybe. As it is, it's an invitation to Norwegian jokes.

Re: Pakosti selviäisi pian

Hello, I have encountered a confusing phrase: mies, jonka olemassaolo siis pakosti selviäisi pian. What I don't understand is what kind of function does pakosti have in here? Is it some kind of täytyy? Also, does selviäisi come from selviätä, meaning to survive? Thank you in advice for any help! It...

For my wife (living abroad), the appointment lasted all of ten minutes to renew both passport and ID card. She picked up the new ones 48 hours later.
I should clarify that was on a visit to Helsinki.
