Re: Where can I find a dental hygienist in Helsinki or Tapiola?

I've used Hammaspeikko (Tooth Fairy) on Hietaniemenkatu, found them to be very thorough and

My dog won't fit in the microwave I'm afraid, and I don't expect my neighbours to invite me round for lunch anytime soon!

Kitchen Joy - A Lament

What's the issue with those tasty morsels they have been dishing up in the frozen section of most supermarkets for the past year or so? They have served me well as my primary microwaveable staple during lunch-hour, but all of a sudden they have disappeared from every supermarket in Helsinki. The fro...

Re: Driving School

I was aware of the one in Hakaniemi but just wanted a heads-up on others anyone might recommend
before I go asking them about prices. I guess the €1300 euro range is the best I could possibly hope for?

Driving School

http://www.cybersalt.org/cl_images/1zzzzxa/s/southdrivingschool.jpg I've been through some of the websites for driving schools listed on http://www.autokoululiitto.fi but most of them seem to be quite shy about advertising their rates online. I'm looking for the cheapest rates possible in Helsinki ...

The info posted by zam above applies if you are a non-EU employed person. If you're employed and from the EU then once you register as a Finnish resident the residence permit is 'valid until further notice'. I understand this to imply unofficial permanent residency which may be subject to change. Af...

Yeah I know, was just looking up 'eager' in the dictionary, pulled it open at E and erection was the first word which popped out. Maybe 'popped out' is the wrong term to use, but I thought it might be a cruel joke if I could only get my grammar right. Oh well, time to book one of those summer langua...

Hmm.. just pulled out the wad of useless cards in my wallet to see if my Kela card has an expiry date - which it doesn't - then took a closer look at my residence permit card which feckin' expired 2 years ago! Never even gave it a second glance before. Will they freak out if I go and apply for anoth...
