Re: US prepaid card

T-mobile runs on 1900 MHz and AT&T runs on 850 MHz. It's a good idea to double check what frequencies your phone supports before you go, but most modern smart phones seem to have support for the 4 main GSM frequencies. Even low end smart phones in the 100€ range I checked had support for the 4 m...

Re: cheapest way to send package to the UK

This isn't exactly cheap, but the best deal I found after a quick look around was https://www.parcelhero.com/ . £69 for 25kg or £76 for 30kg. This compares to Posti at €115. If you are flying and can manage to carry several bags/ boxes, there is a good chance it would be cheaper to book an extra bag...

Re: US prepaid card

There are quite a few people selling them on US eBay that will ship to Finland. They are around $10 including postage. As recommended by others, T-Mobile is a GSM network on a band that should work for most phones bought in Europe.

Sorry, I didn't check stock in K-Rauta. The link above is probably a phased out line. This one seems to be more generally available:

Re: Summer garden/plastic covers

It's called Katekangas. Any place with a half way stocked garden section should have it. Try Hong Kong, K-Rauta, Tokmanni etc... http://www.hongkong.fi/fi/piha-ja-puutarha/pihakalusteet-ja-tarvikkeet/puutarhakankaat/kankaat-ja-katteet/tarha-6-m2-0-3x20-m-rivivalikangas/p/1191608/ https://www.tokmann...

Re: Winter tyres: the rules

3mm is the legal minimum for winter tyres in Finland. In some countries it is four, and I would really consider changing around 5mm. They do not perform well below 4mm. A winter tyre starts with a deeper tread ( I believe mine were close to 12mm when new), so replacing at 4-5mm isn't so different fr...

Re: How can I clean this? Urgent

Tennis balls work well to take shoe marks off laminate flooring. Make a hole in it and put it on a broom/ mop pole if you don't want to be on your hands and knees.

So what's the status here? Have you figured out an exam date to target, and how is your prep for that going? Any other developments? There is a little update here (maybe you had already seen it when you posted) https://www.finlandforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=90397&p=551243#p551243 I'm cur...

Re: Best pizza flour

If you end up making a lot of pizza there are a few sellers on ebay.it that ship to Finland for a reasonable price. This link probably wont work for long, but this seller has 25KG of Caputo Blu pizzeria for €50.50 delivered to Finland. It is a kit that also includes 1kg San Marzano tomatoes, some be...

I'm wondering if people in this thread are still active? I'm moving to Vaasa in January to be closer to my Swedish-speaking boyfriend. I don't speak Finnish or Swedish though.. so I'm starting to panic about what kind of work I'll be able to get in Vaasa :-/ Are all of you English-speakers in work…...

Re: Keeping my UK car to Finland

The real benefit in bringing your car from another country to Finland is the tax saving. You can only do this if you have documentation showing that you had the vehicle insured for a period of time before the move (6 months or a year. i can't remember which just now). So if you don't mind driving a...

Re: Help! Need a man and a van to move from London to Finlan

I got quotes from a number of man and van operations on Shiply. If you aren't familiar with Shiply, it is a site where transport companies can bid on jobs. I would be careful about checking the companies reviews. I got a quote for a full load from York to central Finland for £1600. I ended up using ...

You said in an earlier post that you are a heart Surgeon from Spain. What further medical studying are you hoping to do? If you are already practicing in Spain, your education is accepted in Finland.

Re: Help finding a job in Finland

Maybe you have missed the points of the last posts. You wont get a work permit to do menial jobs, so there is no legal way for you to work in Finland. You mention illegal immigrants in the US. Finland doesn't really have a black labour market. As suggested, you should wait and apply to study.
