Re: Help me!!!!How do I meet more Finns?
Facebook for a group that suits. You name it and there will be a group for it. Ilmonet.fi for adult education courses, again there are courses for just about everything! You might be too late for the autumn courses, don't despair a whole new set start in the new year. Check the notice boards at the ...

Re: English Primary Schools
Here's my short answer (as one who's been through the bilingual school for ala-aste): stay where you are and get support for his English. We were at Kulosaari and while it's not a decision we regret, certainly in hindsight it would have been better to have gone to the local Finnish school. Firstly t...

Re: Online Pet Stores?
Google search with 'eläintarvikkeet verkkokauppa' gave a few names. If you use "jyrsijätarvikkeet" a whole heap of others pop up. TassuMassu looked promising, not the same brand though. Have you tried the breeders organisation? There seems to be a club or similar for every critter there is...

In fact, when you cancel your PR they will advise you to get your new Finnish passport immediately.pavi wrote:I got the decision for citizenship today. Can i go and cancel my PR tomorrow and apply for passport already tomorrow? or do i have to wait to get the decisions updated to all databases?

Re: blogs about living in finland: the kasper stromman desig
I have always thoroughly enjoyed Kaspers blog about life in Finland (but then viewed from a design point of view). Just wondering if people were familiar with this blog? It's hilarious in any case http://kasperstromman.tumblr.com one of my favourite posts is his scientific research on milk cartons ...

Helsinki travel guides - well, to be authorised have to pass a test, like taxis. Theres one place that offers a vocational instruction http://www.liiketalousopisto.fi/Opiskelemaan_meille/matkaopas.shtml , as you can see those 5 languages need to include the 1... and having worked in the profession ...

Re: English Primary Schools
For the OP, you've heard correctly regarding Kulosaari primary and the language test: they do require both English and Finnish. The information and application info comes in December. You'll only need to complete one application and then list the schools in order of preference. For the bilingual cla...

Well, it sucks even more so, since I am moving a mere 3.5km. From one side of Klaukkala to the other LOL. So I am just shoving everything into plastic bags. And hoping all my friends will turn up to help me carry them all.

So he can go shove his head up his arse for all I care. Would that make him an honorary anustralian then? It could. He can join the nasty group of Aussies, like myself and Kutitaa and whatnot. Since we are all arrogant nasty racist jerks. I obviously missed something here... sarcasm and ...

Re: Personal experience with RP and Appealing a decision
I am in the middle of packing to move, so it'll have to wait LOL. I have also some old Aussie coins, which are also over 100 years old. I use to look for a coffee table with which you could lift the glass top off and there was about 1cm of space between the glass and wood, so you could put pictures...

Re: Personal experience with RP and Appealing a decision
It's actually cheaper if you change your name in Finland and then get a free 'graits' passport from Sweden. I'm still stuck with one of those ancient ugly Australian passports. We have the most beautiful ones ever now lol, and yeah, I am jealous. :p That only works if you change your name with a va...

Nah, I don't think it's worth anything. It's an old brown coloured note. Older than the ones we changed into Euros. Probably my pile of rather old Finnish markka are worth alot more. Some over a 100 years old in good condition. Who knows. http://www.snynumis.fi/huutokaupat/ Btw, old 50mk note witho...
