Re: Automated decision experience for Citizenship applications

Cannot imagine how 3min decision after submission is possible, considering how long many are waiting. That automation sounds either really good or really bad 😅 I think the people who applied in the last week of April will see it as more than "really bad". If they applied a few days later ...

Cannot imagine how 3min decision after submission is possible, considering how long many are waiting. That automation sounds either really good or really bad 😅 Just want to clarify: the DECISION came after 3min not the PROCESSING stage after 3min. (?) It is about the decision. Migri now grants citi...

Re: Your biggest struggles after moving to Finland?

Lemon and orange peels, used tea bags and coffee grounds can be left to dry and put into mixed waste or fridge to freshen the smells. Biowaste is either useful or disgusting. No way I'd keep those at home. I wish there is a mixer under kitchen sink to grind everything. Maybe it's no illegal to buy ...

Re: net salary in finland?

Hi people, I cant find a decent calculator to help someone understand what the net salary could look like in Finland. If someone wants to earn below net, what are the gross salary they should have? Thank you! 3600 net 4000 net 4500 net 5000 net 6000 net https://www.vero.fi/en/individuals/tax-cards-...

Re: End date of RP

Which country is your wife from (or where is she travelling to for the wedding)? I am assuming it is a non-Schengen country. Depending on that, there could be a few points where there could be scrutiny. 1. Immigration in your wife'sö home country (or wherever the wedding is). 2. At the airline coun...

Re: End date of RP

I have a question about my wife's situation. Her brother will have a wedding in the first week of July, and she has to go. But her residence permit's end date is 17th July. We already applied for an extension, but still in progress, and it seems she won't get it new one before she leaves. Is there ...

Re: RP what happens at an identification appointment.

If you think bringing someone with you will help, do that but make sure you are the one doing the speaking. Why? There shouldn’t be any issues letting someone else speak also. I say that because from my experience Migri prefers and sometimes insists the applicant to speak for themselves. It is also...

Re: RP what happens at an identification appointment.

Hello everyone! I am in Finland and have just submitted my request for residency permit as a third country national, spouse of a Finnish person. I have an anxiety disorder so to avoid a panic attack (I am very nervous about this) I would like to know what to expect exactly from the identification a...

Re: Lost job before applying for PR

I'm still applying for jobs (I work in IT) and according to the conditions of my Blue Card, I have three months of consecutive unemployment before it gets cancelled. Just a bit confusing whether I can just continue my application with the employer I put in when I applied, whether they'll just rejec...

Re: New government’s proposed changes to citizenship and residence permits

the citizenship test is unlikely to be particularly hard to pass. Though it's worth saying (as I don't think I've seen this written about anywhere) that surely it'll only be offered in Finnish and Swedish, right? So on some level, even if a basic one, it'll be another language test indirectly. It’s...

Re: New government’s proposed changes to citizenship and residence permits

This is just the first phase. There will be 2 more phase come to change the law. Citizenship test, income requirement etc etc. Correct. However, the citizenship test is unlikely to be particularly hard to pass. My guess is, it will be a piece of cake compared to YKI. It remains to be seen what the ...

Re: New government’s proposed changes to citizenship and residence permits

I am interpreting a bit differently. I think it says that if you clear the language test it is 5 years from what is currently 4 years. So even if someone clears it in November, he or she can still go for citizenship after they complete 5 years provided they satisfy the other conditions. I'm not spo...

Re: Non-Finnish speaking Brit possibly moving to Finland - Any advice....?

Recruitment agencies won't help much, outside IT there are not really jobs available for people who are not able to work in the local language. We have discussed this many times on this forum. There are other fields than IT (for example academia). Doesn’t mean that English speaking jobs would be pl...

Re: Court dismisses assault charges against daycare workers, orders child to pay legal costs

I have to clarify one part about fine the parents, I would rather need to say there, let the parents be liable for the legal costs of the other party, because they made the decision to file suit. It just seems unfair to slap a debt onto a 5 year old of 35.000€ while the small child has not even any...
