Re: 'Outer Space' English

Was not referring to the 'Middle English' of Chaucer - and certainly not to the 'Old English' Beowulf of MANY centuries before that - the best part of a 'millenium,' in fact.

And surely not to Ethelberht's code of the 7th century. :)

Re: Thai/Chinese

Thanks - it's my granddaughter - I don't think I would call it a 'date' - it's a birthday present.

Thai would be good as she's a big fan of noodles.

Thai/Chinese

It's been a few years since eaten out in Thai/Chinese as am usually preparing myself. But now inviting someone - and wonder if any good ones have shown up. Their quality comes and goes with owners and cooks - so am looking for the latest update. I've found some good reviews of Korphai and Lemon Gras...

Re: Potatoes anyone?

The Annabelles from Lidl were 'small' - probably were in August. Siklis small too - I always look to see no 'big' ones. (Now realize time has 'flown' - as per why the moron threw the clock out the window) As said - AnB taste was good - but was pretty much same 'flavor' as Sikli - but didn't have the...

Re: Where to buy good Italian cheese in Finland?

If you know someone who has a card for Heino, check out the cheeses at Heino next time in PK area.. They are supplying many restaurants so their range is formidable. And the prices often quite something else than K.

Re: 'Outer Space' English

Agreed! I have no idea why someone started to go down the avenue of a personal attack. This an open forum - and if a discussion is not interesting for someone - then you just don't read or reply - and there is also an 'ignore' feature. There is no place here for personal abuse - and when it gets unc...

Re: Potatoes anyone?

A new variety was mentioned here - Annabelle. I tried it then and was OK. A week or so ago, Lidl had both Annabelle and Sikli for sale. I took a bag of each and we did some 'testing' (incl 'blind') We found the taste of each to be very similat in terms of flavor - but the Sikli flavor was decidedly ...

Go take up half a screen with your poster style!

Re: 'Outer Space' English

Think about writing coherent and cogent English - or any other language. It could change your life. And if you 'excel' in crying babies or about eating up half a page of a forum with a childish poster - go ahead - don't expect any congratulations. Just put people on 'ignore' that might exercise/chal...

Re: American Express Green Card Worth it?

I was one of the first Amex cardholders in Finland and also running a company accepting cc's. IMO - it's a tremendous hoax - they count on a person impressing someone that they hv an Amex card. It has NOTHING to with spending less money. Merchants (save airlines etc.) pay 3-5% commission and also lo...

Re: Elite Athletes, My Foot

If every male has a 'conscription' obligation I do not understand why athletes get any dispensation. Why not medical students and interns, etc. - on down the line - EMT drivers, etc. Most people will think them of far more importance to the society than someone preparing to get a 50 million € salary...

Re: Norwegian

As far as I know all financial actions in Finland are voluntary except for Vero. :) So sign up for whatever card you like - and you can have more than 1! Norwegian seems to be fine when you want to use a card instead of cash - and want lists of expenditures every month - rather than jotting down cas...

Re: 'Outer Space' English

Hardly 'petty' According to your attitude - actors can award themselves their own Oscars, etc. They just have to advertise themselves as being an 'excellent'' actor! Because there are inhabitants of the Planet acccepting something because something has become 'common' is really inane. 63 million vot...

Elite Athletes, My Foot

The dispensation given to 'athletes' is already totally ridiculous

But now to give special treatment to video game players is a story from Mars

Re: 'Outer Space' English

I'm not referring to Beowulf!

I am talking about using language for shameful SELF-HYPE!

How can any respectable institution judge THEMSELVES in that they ludicrously put 'Excellence' in their OWN NAME?

The world has not yet, hopefully, become a series of Trump 'Universities.'
