Kalevala book
Hi everybody! When we moved from Finland some dear friends of ours gave us a book detailing some major art pieces associated with Kalevala. It is a large coffee table type picture book, very lovely. They gave it to us in the midst of the end of our packing. However, i gave it to one of the packers t...

Re: Chinese Hotpot restaurant in Helsinki
That chinese restaurant in Kamppi does a hotpot ... not cheap, but very nice. When we had it they set it up on one of the tables in the second dining room, at the rear of the restaurant.

Re: moving with a cat from australia
Your cat was checked by a vet three times on the way???????? (Australia, Thailand, Finland). Amazing. I know you don't think it's true, but no matter really. Sydney, for the departure health check; Bangkok, for a health check along the way and watering and feeding; Vantaa, for a check on micro-chip...

Re: moving with a cat from australia
I only have experience moving a cat from Australia to Finland, but i CAN tell you that there is definitely a vet check along the way (i have the bill for the check in Thailand), and there is definitely a vet check at Vantaa. We had to wait 3 hours for the vet to arrive in Vantaa - she was doing some...

Re: moving with a cat from australia
Don't worry. My experience is that international removal with animals is far more stressing for the owner than the pets themselves. Actually, i have to disagree with you on this. Transit time for our cat was 32 hours for our cat from Sydney to Helsinki - that is a very long time and our cat arrived...

Re: moving with a cat from australia
I did it almost four years ago and we used an Australian pet transport company (can't remember the name now). I HIGHLY recommend you factor in the cost of using a pet transport company over doing this all yourself - it is a very complicated process and the results could be disastrous if you miss a s...

Re: anybody have been used the inducement?
My first son was induced on his due date because i was ill. The induction went very well - i had an episiotomy and he was born naturally 5 and a half hours after the oxytocin drip was started. He was a very big baby (5.1kg and 64cm long) so i'm glad they induced me when they did so he didn't get any...

Re: Health Clubs/Fitness Centers/Gyms
You can join SATS on a monthly basis. My son goes there and says it's ok. It's hard to find gyms here that just give out a monthly card. A lot require some kind of yearly fee too. Totally off topic...I find the gyms here VERY expensive but sporting clubs are very cheap - even though people complain...

Swapping my license back
I handed in my Australian drivers license when i got my Finnish license, and now that i'm leaving, i'd like to get it back. My question is ... after i get my license back, am i allowed to drive for the few days between swapping licenses and leaving the country? Just tried calling the police station ...

Re: Italian girl looking for a job in August 2009
Beth i'm not sure how many employers use this forum to find staff - you may be better off having your Finnish partner help you look at online employment sites, newspaper ads, and perhaps registering with a few employment agencies.
Good luck.
