Re: Learning Finnish. Problem.............

Wow! Hi everyone and thanks again for the detailed responses. Unfortunately, things have gone from bad to worse...... I have slipped behind most of my classmates now, in terms of speaking AND comprehension. It's very noticeable that they can understand what the teacher is saying, when I can't. And a...

Re: Today I'm a halfwit!!!

I got all excited about this, but then found it's been taken down!

What a shame.

This could definitely be dropped into Anki [so you can use it on your phone, desktop or web], but will require a LOT of work.

I'm off to research the 10,000 sentences method!

Re: Learning Finnish. Problem.............

Thanks for all the answers everyone! Much appreciated. I'm aware that puhekieli is very different to kirjakieli, and then there's the Lapland dialect on top of that. Damn! It's like learning THREE different languages!! It's comforting to know that what I'm experiencing is normal, although I was hopi...

Learning Finnish. Problem.............

Hi all!! I've lived in Rovaniemi just over a year now and I've been on an "integration program" where the main focus is Finnish language. The course started in March, and obviously, my Finnish has improved a huge amount. However, I have a VERY specific problem, and I was wondering if anyon...

Re: Moving from Finland to UK

I've just done the exact opposite! The cheapest way for me was to buy a van and drive it here myself. Now I'm here, the van is surplus to requirements and is for sale on the For Sale/Wanted page. For info, we found the cheapest route [to Rovaniemi] was Harwich - Hook Of Holland, Rostock - Trelleborg...

Re: USING A VAN FOR BUSINESS

Many thanks for your reply.

My van is a LWB hi roof Transit, which I think weighs 1975kg unladen. So far so good!!

But, I'll still need to do the test.

Will contact Trafi and find out what's involved.

Many thanks once again!

USING A VAN FOR BUSINESS

Hi all, I'll be arriving in Finland early October. We have bought a van to transport our stuff from the UK, and I was wondering if I could put it to use after we arrive. I'm thinking mies ja pakketiauto, or man and van as we say in England!! I've been lead to believe that there may be a [limited] ma...

Re: moving to the UK in October from Finland

I'll be arriving in Rovaniemi in a LWB hi roof Transit Van on UK plates, if you fancy buying it and doing it yourself...... To Rovaniemi, the best/cheapest route for me is: Ferries: Harwich - Hook Of Holland Rostock - Trelleborg Then drive up east coast of Sweden and head a bit further north for Rov...

Re: Transpor/moving to UK

Hei!!

First post on this forum!!

We're moving from UK to Rovaniemi in October time, most probably using a hired van which will have to be driven back to the UK.

Is October too late for you?

Cheers!
