Re: 'Outer Space' English

Harry, I get the distinct impression from your reply that you are are utterly intoxicated by the obnoxious exuberance of your own verbocity. While I am loathe the criticise the English language skills exhibited by many Finns, it’s ridiculous that you see fit to comment on mine, given how poorly pres...

Re: 'Outer Space' English

Wow Harry, You cared so much, you looked through everything else I've posted. Petty, through and through. I also couldn't give two of the proverbial penile insertions what you appreciate in a post, be it a 'poster' which ridicules you or a tongue in cheek reply to something else. It's pretty obvious...

Re: 'Outer Space' English

You know the weekend has arrived when there's some pointless whinge from HarryC  Centre of Excellence is in common use throughout the english speaking world. I really don't understand where you see a problem. Do you have nothing better to do than get annoyed or outraged by petty little thoughts?

Re: Dental Masters Degree in English !!

No. As advised in your earlier thread, you must have good Finnish or Swedish. Good language skills are a pre-requisite for enrolment in Masters level education in Dentistry and subsequently to practice as a dentist in Finland. There is no escaping this. If you want to be a dentist in Finland you wil...

Re: Importing car into Finland

I have registered a couple of cars here from other EU states. It all depends on what you're looking to buy to be honest. If you're going shopping with a 5000 euro budget to buy the same model of car already sold here in Finland, you won't save much if anything at all by the time you consider travel ...

Re: Importing car into Finland

It's the "standard" price, i.e. an estimate what a similar car would cost if bought in Finland. No. Okay, so in case I got cheaper car in Sweden the tax authority will still count the tax based on their "standard price". For example : I buy a Volvo V70 which cost 5,000 euro from Sweden. Tax authori...

Re: Unemployment benefit while studying

In your circumstance, I don't believe you can avoid the 90 day waiting period. You're working. It's your decision to give up the job. You should/could have known this when you applied for the masters.

Re: Car change brake discs and pads

It's completely pointless comparing the price paid for parts and labour when neither of you have identified the make, model and year of your cars! :D I've changed front disks and pads all around for €100 materials cost (incl. fluid) plus my own time, using OE parts on one car and have paid €700 for ...

Re: Bacon

Have a look in your local S-Market for English style bacon. It's cured, thicker cut and not completely full of fat. It also doesn't shrink like hell when you cook it. Quite good quality I would say. Makes a nice change!

Re: Custom tax on microwave

Hi Shelly,

Welcome to the forum.

Gigantti are very easy to get to in Finland. Plenty of stores around Helsinki. Order online and send him the pickup details, or order home delivery.

Plenty of options from as little as Eur 39 / GBP 35, with Kenwood microwaves starting at Eur 69 / GBP 62.

Re: Residence permit on other grounds

If you're serious about it, do well in your studies and then look to further your studies in the EU or to find employment in an EU member state, or in Australia or Canada alternatively. I have not studied the specifics but I know both Australia and Canada have health requirements in their immigrati...
