Re: My Experience With Integration Finnish Classes So Far
Nearing the end. December being the final. I noticed that the push for teaching the language got less and less in October. There had been a lot of changes, including the big change for the program next year, which is why the current one was cut short. Pretty much came to the conclusion that they don...

Re: Coming to Finland....some help needed.
Finns are still people.. all you need is basic human courtesy and politeness and you'll be fine. Just like anyone else around the world, you get out of line, they'll respond negatively. Finnish women are without a doubt among the most beautiful women in the world, but you can't flirt with them in th...

Re: Finnish Workforce
If you're a US native, it's far easier to find work in the US, than as a foreigner in Finland. No need to worry about learning a whole new language and going through inefficient teaching channels for it, as well not having to deal with KELA/TE.. as such things no longer exist in the US. If you have ...

Re: Could you live together elsewhere than in Finland?
They only care that you intend to stay in Finland and that the marriage is genuine and not just a way to trick the system into getting an RP. Answer yes. You'll likely get interviewed anyway and the answers to their questions will give them an idea of your intentions. Take the honest road with the a...

Re: Residence permit application on the basis of family ties when your spouse is a Finnish citizen 2017- 2018

Re: My Experience With Integration Finnish Classes So Far
With the exception of the really obvious ones that ARE there for the money, like the "Soon to be mothers" that will leave in 2 months, I'd say my classmates genuinely want to make something of themselves in Finland.

Re: Moms to be in capital area
What's sad about this is, foreigners can have 100,000 new borns per day in Finland, and there will still be news about the population not growing because they only count Finnish nationals.

Re: Moving to Finland (Seinajoki)
It shouldn't be customary to talk openly about it anywhere, because people just can't handle the differences and just lose their cool. Like with politics.

Re: RP approved in THREE WEEKS?
Work and student RP are processed by far the fastest. Other methods, especially marriage, take the longest.

Re: RP approved in THREE WEEKS?
9 months here, and the identity code/personal identity card took 2 months.
However I arrived to Finland, when the Police were transitioning the RP system over to the Migri, so I was on the long queue list thing.

Re: Relearning Finnish
If you are seriously wanting to relearn it.. I think you may need to visit Finland as the language material is plentiful, or find a Finnish group in the states. It was very difficult for me to learn Finnish during the time I was over there for several reasons: 1. Finnish books were not sold where I ...

Yeah my wife's dad went through that. Especially if it's a large inheritance, government acts like they want it all and will ask a lot of questions, while holding the money hostage.

Re: My Experience With Integration Finnish Classes So Far
Yeah that's basically the gist of it. On month three and we're at the ammatti part of the course, I'm feeling pretty jaded already. I get through the days knowing I have my trusty Suomen Mestari in my bag and I continue self teaching for an hour everyday before class. The mental drain comes from the...
