When I spent my year-long placement in Finaldn 2 years ago, my colleauges were surprised(or more likely shocked) that not only did I eat the skin of the potato, I also cooked it in the microwave. They couldn't believe that potatoes could be cooked so quickly. Happy to say that at least one of the researchers I worked with now occasionally cooks potatoes in the microwave after long days at work.

To go with that is this Finnish thing about not being able to mash new potatoes. In Australia, every freakin' potato you buy is new! I don't care about too high levels of whatever. Some butter, milk and a little salt and they taste just fine!
