Starbucks in Finland!?

Finnish coffee is good. And better than the instant crap we drink in the UK and thank god you drink coffee here and not tea (yes, yes yes...how can you not like tea and be English? I don't like football much either).

Then I went to portugal....and was that coffee good or what?!?

Few tinks to thing who am i to judge, classify or demand, to me finnish coffeee is good and best but some may think differently, @#$% them and they can go home to drink coffee they like, yes im not nice

The only problem I have with these fancy foreign places there seldom is "normal" coffee. You really have to go to a truckstop to find something you can drink without using half an hour and a dictionary.

I like the way they look at you like a piece of crap when you a) ask what the hell the coffee on the menu is or b) ask for coffee and when they offer you the fancy sh!t you reply "no...coffee....normal coffee...in a mug, not a glass"

And why is the 'menu' often on some crappy blackboard...sorry...chalkboard? Is it to give the impression that they make a different style everyday and can erase the old ones?

Next time, try this one, you may like it better : yyn kaffe alhongee (un café allongé). Unfortunately, mind that if you pronounce allégé instead of allongé, the waiter may be puzzled, and ask you if you want yyn deka ?

In French, yyn kaffe ämerikäin is also known as yyn kaffe treh'z'alhongee, and yes indeed, it will be *very* diluted. Yyn deka has no caffeine.

Walked past on Sunday and it seemed busy. Wondered if it was any good... ? Do you mean it is like Weisbier (which IMO is good) or do you mean it is disgusting???
Anyway, shame the beer garden looks like a car park, 'cos otherwise it has a nice location in the town centre.

Perho culinary school (in Helsinki) also brews their own beer. I liked it.

I think that BE meant drink made with water, malt, hops and yeast? The yeast is important, for you don't get the functional part of the beer without it... and when you ask for it like that, it is going to be THE best beer you shall drink before the next one

I personally think there stuff is sh!t and taste like a glass of water, sugar, grains and yeast, yeast, yeast and more yeast, but not beer (if that makes sense). People rage about it but I guess it's all relative and there's not much to choose from, each to their own of course. Kinda famous here though.

It is a nice building and location but you have to be in the mood for it. Havent been in a while since my conversion to Islam but I used to drink the bottled stuff there....or spirits.

Yeah - the beer slag heap...sorry beer garden in the back...would be nice if they made the effort.

I'm another of those people who drinks coffee black (and without sugar). I learned it when I was a 17-year-old high school kid, amazingly enough.

I think my pet peeve is the "chai" and the ridiculous prices charged for it. I studied Russian at university, and "chai" is just the Russian word for tea. Use the word in English, though, and you can come of with some fancy-pants flavored stuff that you can charge several Euros for.

On the other hand, trying to get a good cup of coffee when I studied in the former USSR was an adventure. When the waiter kept trying to push tea on me instead of coffee on one of the excursions, I finally asked in exasperation if he hadn't fulfilled that month's tea quota.

Proper samovar tea is proper samovar tea... I kind of like the Russian style with tea being "black" with heaps of sugar and then dipping my buttered toast in it... can't understand English "white tea"... I guess its something to do with my granny drinking pot coffee with cream (yes from a saucer with the sugar cube in her lip) and my sis preferring tea that was auburn strong... I guess I've got a deffo "eastern tea" preference there...

Mind you though a Greek "frappe" is just the next best thing on a morning... apart from Raki

Hate both to be honest...Hard to drink when you don't like aniseed anyway. Old man loves it, I gag at the smell.
