Flora Vanilla substitute?
I'm looking to bake a cake, and actually a lot of things, that call for Flora Vanilla in the recipe. Since I'm in the U.S. currently, I don't have access to it, nor do I think actual vanilla sauce is sold anywhere around here. Does anyone have any suggestions for a substitute they use?

Make your own? Or here’s another recipe with milk in it, and they call it “European”, so maybe closer to Flora Vanilla.Sn0bunni24 wrote:I'm looking to bake a cake, and actually a lot of things, that call for Flora Vanilla in the recipe. Just make a creme anglaise recipe: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/creme-anglaise-i/ it's the real thing.

Can you get Bird's custard powder?
http://www.amazon.com/Birds-Custard-Pow ... B000JMBE7C
Don't boil it if you want a more liquid consistency. It contains starch so will go solid if you boil it and then cool it down.
another "easy" recipe: http://www.alleasyrecipes.com/recipes/2 ... _sauce.asp
