Flora Vanilla substitute?

Post by Sn0bunni24 » Sun Sep 23, 2012 11:20 pm

I'm looking to bake a cake, and actually a lot of things, that call for Flora Vanilla in the recipe. Since I'm in the U.S. currently, I don't have access to it, nor do I think actual vanilla sauce is sold anywhere around here. Does anyone have any suggestions for a substitute they use?

Make your own? Or here’s another recipe with milk in it, and they call it “European”, so maybe closer to Flora Vanilla.

Can you get Bird's custard powder?

http://www.amazon.com/Birds-Custard-Pow ... B000JMBE7C

Don't boil it if you want a more liquid consistency. It contains starch so will go solid if you boil it and then cool it down.

another "easy" recipe: http://www.alleasyrecipes.com/recipes/2 ... _sauce.asp
