If a band had the name "Creeping Flesh of Satans Scrotum" or even something similar, I doubt I would listen to them.
Don't forget the classic Armpit Lovin'!

If you're looking online
Maukka Perusjätkä - Säpinää - is surely somewhere (nice chainsaw solo).
More current stuff is "Klamydia". Now to make your Finnish aunt get a heart attack you can search for their version of "Perseeseen" - though the "Sleepy Sleepers" version is quite allright. Sleepy Sleepers used to be quite "punk" when they started. Oh, and then there is a German-Finnish co-operation piece, two versions of the same song. Klamydia sings "Ich möchte fotze" and a German punk band "Lokalmatadore" sings "mä haluan pillu"

...poor aunt

if you want a record try finding "Suomi Punk, 1977-1998" by Jarkko Kuivanen - Pogographie it'd have good examples. Heres some crazy spanish guys list of punk - looks basic stuff: http://usuarios.lycos.es/punk/finland.html

But Children of Bodom is alright?

Three kids get knifed to death in a tent and they never find the culprit (well, not quite, anyway).

I'm at a loss, I'm afraid.

But then I tend to think most of the bands in that branch are crap, so I probably transfer the feelings to their daft names.

It's also sad that Finland lists among its "big events" of the summer the return of artists like Iron Maiden or Black Sabbath, both well past their creative sell-by dates (and don't get me wrong, I headbanged to Paranoid with the best of them on its release, saw the original Motorhead, Pink Fairies [now there's a name], and Hawkwind on countless drug-fuelled occasions), or even worse, The Shadows.

That Finland can do no better than gather "comeback tours" by geriatric artists who should really be living quietly off their royalties and have done nothing meaningful for 20 years is a suggestion we have not moved very far forward.

I don't see how Creeping Flesh of Satans Scrotum is in any way similar as a band name to Children of Bodom. Terrible tragedy yes, but the name has nothing to do with body parts.

I would personally give Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden both a miss. I would much prefer to see Finnish bands.

You saw the Shadows? My God, you must be a geriatric.

Try re-reading the sentence and parsing it this time, including the parentheses. No, I did not see The Shadows, though to my eternal shame I do believe I may have had a Shadows' Greatest Hits album on vinyl in my pre-teen days. I was in fact fortunate enough to see (live, and usually in clubs) artists like The Who, The Doors, Cream, Bob Marley and the Wailers, Jimi Hendrix, Bowie, Pink Floyd in the Syd Barrett era, and all before they disappeared to early death or stadium-hell, and to attend events like the Isle of Wight Festival and the Stones in Hyde Park. I was indeed very lucky.

That a band should use an exploitative name like Children of Bodom, clearly playing on the grisly murder, is little different from their calling themselves Six-Ounce Darfur Babies or Konginkankaan Bussipysäkki. It attracts attention that their music would otherwise be unlikely to merit.

As Hank so succinctly puts it:

Grrrrrrääääääääääääääärrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhöröörörörörörörörr

I sincerely hope they emigrate to Australia. Then everyone could be satisfied. :)

So what about "Apulanta" lit. "Help Manure" (brand of artificial fertilizer) or "Hullu Ukko ja Kotiteollisuus" Mad Old Man and Home Industry
nowadays just known as "Kotiteollisuus".

25th may... hmmm.. wonder if they'll be doing any side gigs. Need to call up Ville and ask.... just kidding , though I'd know somebody who'd probably know...
