An interesting forum discussion on old Finnish mêlée or one-on-one fighting skills, and especially on the subject of puukkojunkkarit — a 19th century phenomenon where knife-wielding gangs of locally well-known peasant troublemakers (some of them well-off farm-owners, but with a penchant for challenging people to a fight) engaged in all sorts of lawlessness and rowdy behavior in the Southern Ostrobothnia region.
