Pioneers and Princesses of the Swedish music

Post by Evaphio » Sat May 21, 2016 3:44 am

Everyone is welcome to a concert of the rare Swedish music!

The inquisitive pianist Oskar Ekberg explores the Swedish piano literature and makes himself a proud ambassador of works that have become forgotten, scores that have gotten lost, composers that have been pushed aside.
The concert programme includes:

Еlegant and original suites by "the grandfather of Swedish music"Johan Helmich Roman; German-Swedish romantic pieces by by one of Felix Mendelssohn's childhood friends, Adolf Fredrik Lindblad; music by Gustav Düben that in the 17th century exclusively the upper class could enjoy; four women composers of the 19th century: Elfrida Andrée, Valborg Aulin, Ika Peyron and Princess Teresia.

The program also includes a real discovery: a premiere by Johan Helmich Roman! Oskar Ekberg has during several years worked on the first urtext edition of Roman's piano works, and has with the help of discovered sketches been able to reconstruct this work of music history.

Free entrance, programs 10 euros

Time: Sunday, 22.05, klo 17:00
Place: Hakasalmen huvila
Mannerheimintie 13b, 00100 Helsinki
