Education for a non-EU child having residence permit

Post by shamnadps » Fri Feb 09, 2018 8:56 am

Hi

I am moving to Finland based on work and my family wife and child are also moving along with me.
All of us are having residence permit for 1 year which I intend to extend further for long term,

Could some one let me know having the residence permit for long term will give the eligibility for my child to have a free education in finland.
Also is it possible for my wife to get a work in Finland once I move there.

Both wife and child is having residence permit based on family ties.
Do my wife need to apply for a residence permit based on work to be able to work once she is in Finland.

Please let me know the details if you know.

Migri seems tho have their site under construction so no help from there. Basically residence permit based on family ties doesn't restrict right to work. Your permit can have restrictions as can permits based on studies. There are no further permits needed for work (unless you count the plethora of permits us natives need too... wanna work with foodstuff? Hygiene passport. Being a bouncer? Järjestyksenvalvojakortti. And the list goes on and on.)

For schoolstuff you could start to gather information from here: https://www.hel.fi/helsinki/en/childhood-and-education/
