Could you use shorter sentences? That was terrible to read.

You say five years, so presumably this is a case of a non-Finnish EU citizen living here with his non-EU wife? Then this should apply:
Section 161e (360/2007)
Retaining the right of residence of family
members in the event of divorce
(...)
(2) Family members of an EU citizen
who themselves are not EU citizens do not
lose their right of residence in the event of
divorce if:
1) the marriage has lasted at least three
years, including one year in Finland;
2) by agreement between the spouses or a
court decision, the spouse who is not an EU
citizen has custody of the children of the EU
citizen;
3) it is warranted by particularly difficult
circumstances such as violence in the
marriage; or
4) by agreement between the spouses or by
a court decision, the spouse who is not an EU
citizen has a right of access to a minor, and
the court has ruled that the access must be in
Finland.
(3) Before family members referred to in
subsection 2 who are not EU citizens are
granted the right of permanent residence,
they are subject to the requirement that they
are employees or self-employed, or that they
have, for themselves and their family
members, sufficient funds so that they or
their family members do not become a
burden on the social assistance system of
Finland, and comprehensive health insurance
coverage in Finland, or that they are
members of the family, already constituted in
Finland, of an EU citizen meeting these
requirements. Such family members retain
their right of residence solely on personal
grounds.

Concerns over a residence permit should not be a reason to stay in an abusive relationship.
First get help for your situation (see links) and later deal with the possible consequences for your RP.
(those organizations can probably help you better than an online forum)

If marriage ends you'll lose the permit, at least that's what I learned.
Sadly but in no way should you stay in such marriage. Or maybe you could try marriage counseling.

Counseling doesn't fix physical abusers.

Most are not fixable. Some can keep from crossing that line in a new relationship if they've gotten intense treatment (ususlly custodial in part). Fixing an existing relationship that has crossed that line is virtually unheard-of. I don't know any legitimate professionals who claim that ability.
As he persisted, I was obliged to tootle him gently at first and then, seeing no improvement, to trumpet him vigorously with my horn.
