Natanggap po ako sa isang company dyan sa helsinki at mag start by feb. next year.

Ask ko lng po about sa cost of living for a single person dyan. Nag research din ng konti pero ewan ko lng if correct to ang data na na gather ko. Mas maganda sana if first hand information talaga from kapwa pinoy.
- flat, internet, transpo, food = around 1000 euro ?
- taxes 25%+ ?

Salamat.
First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on your new job. I've been here for almost a month and was really tracking my expenses until the last cent. It really depends on your lifestyle. Pero if your lifestyle is simple enough then here is my calculations based on experience.

1. FLAT 500EUR/month kasi may ka share ako na pinoy din (mas ok siguro kung maghanap ka flatmate para mas malaki flat mo and mas tipid ka pa)
2. TRANSPO - 48EUR/month (monthly travel card) mejo mahal yan kasi company ko kumuha nyan for me (free pa ngayon).. sabi nila mas makakamura na ako pag ako magpupurchase kasi nasa Finnish system na ako. Mas makakatipid ka pag monthly travel card kukunin mo..
3. FOOD - more or less 200EUR/month .. again 2 kasi kami sa flat so tipid sa groceries, ung normal food ko sa canteen costs 5-9EUR per meal, so better kung lunch ka lang sa office then grocery ka na lang for breakfast and dinner :).
4. INTERNET - madalas free na to .. kasama sa FLAT rental mo
5. GIMMIK! - normal price ng beer 4-5EUR pero pag gimmik ka sa helsinki late na minsan ung beer nila 1EUR na lang (may parang happyhour).

So to cut it short more or less 1000EUR pag magisa ka lang.. pero since 2 kami less than 1K/month (try to find a flatmate na lang kung gusto mo tipid)

We live in Olari ESPOO mga 30 minutes away from Helsinki by bus. Cheaper and bigger mga flat sa espoo and mas tahimik (parang baguio). Kung gusto mo hanap ng Flat to stay na malapit since di mo pa alam ung area try mo dito http://www.reittiopas.com/. Bus schedule yan para may idea ka how far from your office yung place na gusto mo.

They got a service from finlandrellocation.com na syang mag asikaso from pre-departure hanggang sa paghahanap ng bahay.

Nag research about how to prepare my self especially sa climate dyan. Sabi nga nila coldest period daw ang Feb. Siguro mahirap mag adjust kasi we are from tropical country. Extreme ba talaga ang weather dyan?

more than a month pa lang ako dito so di ko pa masasabi weather kung Feb... pero as of now minsan umaabot na sa -6 pero oks lang... sabi nga ng officemate namin na Finnish "There is no bad weather, only bad clothing". So better invest for a good selection of winter clothes.. eto pa pala natutunan ko.. before ako alis manila namili na ako mga jacket and other clothes for winter kala ko mas makakatipid ako..... mas mura dito hehhe sayang pinamili ko.. and ung mabibili mo dito para talaga sa type ng weather dito... so advice ko sayo bili ka jan konti lang or good for your arrival lang.. pag dito ka na dun ka na bumili

Hi Jcy,

The weather in Feb in Helsinki compared to tropic might be a bit harsh. But if you're warmly clothed, then you might enjoy it. That could be the coldest month but the days are also longer and you'll see winter in its fullest. Very beautiful!

By the way,if you are in the tax system in Finland, then remember that you can actually get money back for transportation annually. So if your ticket exceeds 500e per year the excess amount will be reimbursed by tax office. ;-)

May I ask what company you work for?
And welcome to Finland.

Terve Maui,

Mitä kuuluu?

We live in Nei-Hu District Taipei City right now. We're going to visit Oulu on February to attend my mother-in-law's 50th b-day. And we will visit our newly built summer cabin in Ii.

Have you try to enrolled at language school to learn Finnish? My husband said that there are some schools that offers foreigner to learn to speak Finnish. I learn from computer and also my husband is teaching me to learn Finnish.

What kind of work do you have in there? Hope we can meet in person somewhere in Oulu when we visit in there on February.

So Tell then. God Bless.

Näkemiin! :)

The company that hopefully I will be working with is developing software for computer data protection.

jb_kulit,

Ang rellocation fee ibibigay nila pag dating ko na daw, once na may account na. So I need to pay first, just like my residence permit fee. I am thinking to save cost and use it wisely.

Is Finnair ok or austria airline?

Thanks
