Hello, just wondering if anyone could tell me if the Father (Not a citizen of Finland) of Finnish children have any rights or say in regards to the children if the mother has full custody? The Father is currently paying child support.
Also, is it normal for the social welfare person to take the side of the mother that has full custody? Is it also normal for the social welfare person to have limited hours to get in contact with? We are finding that the social welfare person is only available for 3 hours on a Thursday to get in touch with.
Also, looking for Family Lawyer to discuss Child Support in the Kemio or Turko area, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You

Child Support Questions
Re: Child Support Questions
The parents have both duties towards the children, some of them you'd call rights (usually visitation, etc.). Without more info is hard to give you much info (child age, grounds for full custody, etc.)smztish74 wrote:Hello, just wondering if anyone could tell me if the Father (Not a citizen of Finland) of Finnish children have any rights or say in regards to the children if the mother has full custody? Nationality has nothing to do with it.
Unfortunately many social workers are overloaded with work and scared of doing mistakes.smztish74 wrote: Also, is it normal for the social welfare person to take the side of the mother that has full custody? Many fathers, mothers, foreigners and Finns complain about their and Courts decisions. That is the only normal or usual thing. If the Social worker is taking a side we can't know without details (not asking btw), it should be taking the side of the child.
Your best bet is to find a lawyer that specializes in family matters. Check their database, find a few and check their profiles on the web. I don't have any recommendation for you.
Also, check if you qualify for oikeusapu, legalaid, if you are in Finland. Even if you take a private laywer that will cap the amount they can charge you.

Full custody means indeed that the mother can decide everything without consulting the father.if the mother has full custody
The fathers role is restricted to paying child support.
Some additional agreement might be in place (visiting), but they are explicitly agreed upon.
Many people confuse living 100% with one parent with full custody. Make sure you know your correct legal status.
