Applying for RP in Finland

Hello

I am going to apply for my first residence permit here in finland on the basis of family ties. Me and my fiance just moved to finland 2 months ago. My fiance is finnish and i am applying for residence permit on the basis of cohabitation. We lived together about 3 and a half year in Austria.
My question is, What to write under occupation heading. Because right now I am not doing anything and unemployed but according to my qualification, I am an electrical engineer. So should I write ''Engineer'' or ''Unemployed''. Cuz I have this feeling that if I write engineer and they will find out that i am not working, they might reject my application and vice versa. And other than that, how they will check that I really am engineer, because in the attachments, degrees are not required.

For instance, you "say" that you cohabited, but can you legally "prove" that you cohabited?

For a family-ties permit, means of support is not asked or checked.

The form asks your "Occupation and/or training" -- not your employer. That's not one of the things they'd be allowed to reject you for.
(The form you need is OLE_PH2.)

I'm assuming you're not Austrian or other EU. If you were, you wouldn't need a residence permit at all. You'd only need to register yourself.

Cuz if you don't have a permit, you can not work, so if you was, you'd be deported... OF COURSE YOU ARE WITHOUT WORK - you are not "unemployed" as you're not in the workforce available for work. Engineer, one washer short.

It's more of an old habit than anything more. Occupation is asked in many forms, even with most it does not really matter.
Engineer, Electrical engineer, B. Sc. (Engineering), or what ever was your last actual job title - it does not really matter

Just write ELECTRICAL ENGINEER!! this is the correct answer.
Last time i wrote my application like that, Im engineer also
Even you aren t working at this moment. Its about your skill or your profession.

Violation of Finnish immigration laws can and will be held against you. That is NOT good.

The OP, fredrick, said that he is a Canadian citizen, non-EU, which could lead to legal complications.

To my knowlege, an "EU resident" can move "with non-EU spouse" so the spouse "gets registered" when they move from one EU country to another due to this "free movement" and !"#¤% ... so if some gyppos get free movement why don't Finnish citizens I just ask? Or is it just that Finns are 2nd class citizens in their own country...

I'd guess it actually depends on which paper they decide to submit. As they are moving from another EU country they can apply based on the EU route, applying for a residence card for family member of a EU citizen (Finnish citizen moving from another EU country = immigrating EU citizen), on the other hand I see absolutely nothing in the law preventing them also applying for a residence permit for a non-EU spouse of a Finnish citizen.

Which is a better route? I have no idea - and it is possible the answer depends how one subjectively weighs some differences - or if there for one reason or another is significantly longer processing time at the police station for one kind of application.
