Then there is the general concept of immigrant. This is the group I have problem with. Their gilded arses and assupmtions and expectations and desire to be appeased by unwashed barbarians of this faraway land.

That is the group that needs shakedown. It is where seeds for future problems lay, and partially where seeds of current problems lay.

And in the end, I do not have problem with immigrants either. But I do have huge problem with, and I have said this many times, unintegrating immigrants. Ones that come up with excuses not to learn to speak and behave in way this country speaks and behaves. Some do not even bother with excuses. Some go as far as expect finns to change themselves/their country for immigrants.

Is learning finnish going to be easy? Most likely not. So? Is it excuse not to put real effort to it? Work to learn it?

Of course one have to feel accepted to be happily living. My message to new faces is that average immigrant is not represented by antstar, Travmies etc. It is just that we don't get those "bad apples" in this forum. They are scared away from here, not necessary from Finland, by the likes Tiwas and Onkko (and all the others I suppose). By bad apples I mean for example those asking how to get finnish wife and how to get RP, those who come just to exploit our social security or to get free education, those who come to beg here and demand roof over their head (okay, it was finns doing the demanding in this case)...

I still think this forum needs all kinds of people, because stereotypes only go so far and although are based on reality, they are not reality. Experiences vary and IMHO it is best to have as many opinions as possible. Not all are going to be nice and encouraging, but that is life.

Ok Upphew, good post, and explaining things this way in a reasonable format would get a better response from me or others. Of course you want the best for your country and i do also as i am now a tax payer here and i don\t want to see my money wasted on scavengers. Thether or i like it or not i am now attached to Finland because my son is half Finnish so i do also have responsibilities to yours and his country. BUT some honest people have come here and have suffered abuse for no reason other than meeting a bad apple on a bad day, and they have left with a bad image and may possibly pass that image on.
