Ok, fair call. So even less reason to change the name IMO.
The meanings and connotations of words – even cognates – are rarely 1:1 identical from one language and culture to the next, but you often see the Finnish word neekeri likened to “negro” and the Finnish word nekru likened to “nigger”.
What do Finnish people call the Somalis? Nekrut? Or any special words?
We call them somaleiksi or neekereiksi depending on situation, i find that someone e.g. from kenya is really offended if i call him somali :)

I think that somppu would be used when one wants to insult a black person, not necessary Somalian one.

I don't think "somppu" is really offensive, its an abbreviation of a nationality, like calling American a "jenkki". I mean on the mild scale offensive then might be calling someone East European a slobo or F-E Asian kinuski then again what is "offensive" - in Russian you'd call someone "aubergine"...

Beef jerky question:

This is the stuff I brought over;

http://www.amazon.com/World-Kitchens-Fa ... 559&sr=8-1

It seemed to go over well with all but one girl, so, maybe this will be more fun to give out.

Uncle Mike's is really good but it's also a lot more costly. To be honest I don't know if I'd spend the extra over the other stuff, but it's another option. Here's a link to one place selling it online;

If you can find a store that sells them, bring some clues over for this David Rönnqvist guy.

Re. jerky

Make it yourself!! So easy and you can use the cheapest cuts of meat. Cut it super thin (really really thin), marinade it in soy, chili, etc, and then pop it into a dehydrator for 8 hrs or so.

Make sure you take as much fat from it as possible before you dry it because it's the fat that can go rancid if you plan on storing a bunch. Keep the finished product in an airtight container in the fridge. Munch away for a completely low-carb snack. You *know* that I always have this stuff on hand. :)

Stopped having it shipped about 3 years ago because the price is outrageous **before** shipping and the flavour of homemade stuff is much better. If you are buying store bought stuff, careful of the carbs though because the manufacturers tend to put alot of sugar in the marinade.

I knew you'd appear!! :D

Yeah, see it's a good snack, tons of protein and very little else...some jerky, nut's and a bit of fruit for those all night gaming sessions.

I was checking those links and it's pricey and what with my lack of self control I'd probably eat 50 dollars worth of stuff in a very short time.

Might be fun to make even if it's a disaster.
