No, I mean abolish all the special services. Have it like somewhere in Greece or Estonia - or what we had in the 1970's. Services only in the local languages. Find your own language courses on your own money. Then come back to ask what you want when you can want it in the local language... Does wonders for your language skills I tell you.

Sounds great except for the part that one can already not really get service in the local languages (Swedish in Helsinki for example). And being Swedish speaker without great Finnish skills, you already do not get any help (no, the integration Finnish course places are reserved for "real" foreigners with darker skin colour, you do not qualify if your passport says Finnish and you have blue eyes it seems... )

Yes, but why should the Finnish citizen have to pay to take these courses when real foreigners get them for free and even get money to support themselves at the same time?
Mind you, I also think this goes both ways, any Finnish speaking Finn should be allowed to take free Swedish classes if he/she wishes.

Well that is because of xenophobia and racism, and EU citizenship...

No, I think language teaching should be if not free then cheap. But I also don't see whats the point in making the system bend over as there is always to be found the person to blame. The "hot blonde" responsible for HBS should be the one going through the trouble of "importing a foreigner". Its human cruelty you know!

Don't take a Summer Man!

Many women take a man for summer entertainment, but then don't understand that summer men need constant care. "Oh, the bloke will fend for himself they think, and leave the summer man alone at home bored and without work. But the summer man does not belong to the Finnish nature, most of these summer men suffer in the winter and or freeze to death. Those few summer men that survive a Finnish winter become alcoholics and will grow wild and unruly. The man needs a nice permanent home. It can live 15-20 years. All these years you need to tend daily as if you would a dog. It must be given nourishing meals, and taken to the doctor if it becomes sick. As the man is a carnivore, feeding it will cost as much as a mid-sized dog. If you are not sure you can not provide such an environment - don't take a summer man!

I'm so glad I didn't return on here until now. It's given me a chance to read through the replies and realise just how ridiculous some of you sound... :ochesey:

Aha! Thanks for clearing that up. I'd wondered why you had a country full of brilliant innovations but no fracking clue how to market the majority of them globally... If you all prefer to do business in Finnish, maybe you could try to sell Nokia phones to the rest of the world in Finnish, then we could all watch the Finnish economy collapse...

If only you could see how massively ironic that comment is when coupled with the first quote... :P

If they were brilliant people would come and buy them and learn our language to buy them from us. We don't need you in the country to market them globally. After all, a novel idea to you monoglot Anglos - we can and will learn other languages to market to other countries. Unlike you who want to come live in our country and then expect your rules and your language. But it doesn't mean if we *can*speak your language we *will* speak your language in our country.

now prophesy for me, shall Sandi come to this land, where he has not come before, for is it not this land called allimini, and were there not a great palaver because the white franks came cala cala, and how may Sandi, who is neither allimini nor frenchi, but inegi, put foot in this land?

To Sean Canary: oh for god's sake, what is the point of going around spewing on this forum that people are facists etc. without even knowing them? Do I have a concern that individual European cultures are in the process of being undermined by large influxes of people who don't WANT to integrate, but WANT to remain in their own little pockets, but yet want as many handouts from the "evil infidel" governments of Europe as they can get, paid for by the taxpayer? YES, as do 99% of "native" Europeans, except they are too PC to say so. Would I join the BNP or other similar groups? NO. Would I have anything to do with deliberately inflicting violence, pain, social unrest etc. against these people? NO.

I worked as a Pub. Healthcare Nurse in Germany in the 90's, dealt a lot with various asy. seekers from Kosovo, mainly ethnic Albanians, other groups too. You wouldn't believe their entitlements, and their sense of entitlement. My German clients, old, in their 80's, helped to build their country after the war (don't start on the war - no matter who was right or wrong, the little people are the fall out from it) and were entitled to nothing - nada- nul. UK: Pakistani lady fully constipated, told her to switch to wholegrain cereal. Her question? Can I get it on prescription? ie NHS/ british taxpayer pays. Same time, she'd been 20 years in UK, no english whatsoever, needed NHS translater, cost to NHS of translators last year? 50 million. Are there many genuine, good, people who want to integrate and want a better life of whatever skin colour? Yes, of course. But the UN etc. has no problem talking about protecting native cultures, you mention protecting European Culture? = Facist.

You're wrong Bubs. It's not a copy and paste job. She had her Nigerian houseboy unshackled and made him type it twice as a punishment for breathing in european oxygen. :D

Yep, that's just what I did, while wearing my size 36 jackboots. Then I sent his relatives details of my bank accounts so that they could transfer the 30 million which was they inherited from their dead uncle, but which had to rest in a European account for 8 days.

If you don't want to service the public then get another fecking job. I'd like to come over there and service your arse with my f*cking boot.

See, threats of violence. Is it wonder that your kind of fools are not wanted anywhere?
And you DO demand asskissing by requiring things to work like YOU want instead of figuring out how they work HERE.

YOUR FAILURE.

When I have to handle any of my public service things, it goes without a hitch. Because... Guess what... I start by figuring out how system works, not assuming it works like I want.

You both spout nationalistic bullsh*t without having a clue what you're talking about.

Titswaz - Tourists? Citizens? Other habitants? Please define. I know what a tourist is. I know what a citizen is. So who are these other habitants. I can only presume you mean foreigners. And you have the temerity to criticise Nicely and accuse her of not thinking logically. I think you owe her an apology for typing before you think.

Tourist: Someone who has no ID-number.
Every Finn, citizen of Finland or domiciled whatever has ID-number. Not one means you are tourist until you gain one.

And I owe Nicely nothing. She has the stupidity to waltz in and think that system works how she would like it to work, instead of doing the logical, reasonable thing and figuring out how it DOES work.

Hers is the attitude of people who when facing new electronic device is to ignore the manual and try to "think" their way through.
Hers is attitude that she does not want to go through trouble of going to police, magistrate etc. She wants someone else to do all the work so she does not have to.

Finnish citizens do get state support and are sent to courses when they are not employed. Those courses are usually deemed to improve their employability, just like a Finnish language course improves unemployed immigrants' conditions.

Yes, and it the same for many foreigners that deed not arrive here as refugees or in a state of dire need. They had to ask for those courses, wait, ask again and wait. And god forbid if you dare do something to help yourself like enrol in a uni. or take a side job.
