Ok, so a family member of mine is applying for a residence permit.
This person was previously in Finland as a tourist in 2005 and whilst in Finland received a speeding fine. The police issued them a fine and the fine was paid the next day at the bank. As the speed was quite a bit over the limit - there was meant to be a court appearance but the family member had already booked flights abroad and had to go before the court date. This was explained to the police at the time and they said, "if you can't make the date because you are not in the country, then you can't make the date". No more was said apparently.
Would this appear on this persons record now, 7 years later?
Would this have any effect on the resident permit application?
No other police records for this person in their home country or in Finland.
Any knowledge would be good. This person is worried about it a little bit, although I think it should not be a problem.
Thanks!
