I was searching around on the internet for some information about registering a german car in finland.
I found quite some information, but in my case, things are a little twisted.
I will start my studies in finland in fall 2012, I already got the notification about placement for the next year in the school.
As I am not a Finn, I went to maistratti and applied for the finnish social number, which can be handed to me end of August.
The problem now: I already have a car here, brought from Germany. I brought it here with regular german plates, then put the plates away, sent them back to Germany and de-commisioned it there. I had not the money to register it (at tulli) right away when bringing it here, so this was the only possible way to avoid extra costs (german insurance etc.).
Now I have the money to register the car, but I don't really know what to do. Since I can't move the car - no more valid plates = no Insurance, I really have no clue how to get to the tulli/katsastus with the car.
A friend once told me there would be an online-service to get a red sticker-number (2 letters and a few numbers), that would me allow to drive to katsastus for inspection.
I don't need to drive the car right now, so i would not need "temporary plates" or something. I can wait to use the car when the tax-letter from tulli arrives and drive it with real numberplates then.
Maybe someone of you here know what exactly I have to do now, step by step.
I also used the search function, but i couldnt find anything useful for my situation.
Anyhow, thanks for the time reading this
Greetings
