I wonder if I also wrote in and talked about the lying bureaucrats (several times saying things like 'oh, it'll be ready in a week' or 'i'll do it today' then literally getting no movement on it for another two weeks) and the general rude attitude what they would say. (My girlfriend is the one who told me about one guy's condescention and smugness, it's not just me).
But the idea that it COULD take 5 months to process something for a married spouse is kind of weird. I doubt Finland has the rates of immigration that the US, for example, has, while I'm sure INS is terrible.
Dan: Just got some confirmation from my girlfriend today: they approved it, mailed a copy to her and faxed it to the LA consulate...on the 17th. Why the consulate hasn't yet contacted me is a great big mystery to me. I'm sure it takes 2 weeks to stamp my passport and mail it back to me. The mail-donkey route from Los Angeles to Seattle is treacherous
Hi.
It is always useful to write to Helsingin Sanomat in case you have a point and you know how to express it.
A few years ago I wrote about the slow process in permit handling at UV and the day after HS printed it, Vantaa police called me to tell me that my permit was ready.
Back this September I complained about slow and orderless queue at Pass Control at Vantaa airport. HS printed it and three articles followed that, including the editorial and a two-page report in Sunday edition.
Two weeks ago when I came back again from Asia, it took me only several seconds to go through the Pass Control.
HS is a very influential media and you better make use of it.
