Thank you!
The processing of your application started so soon, 6 days after initiation, so I guess you are a special expert?

Would they tell me their decision (positive or negative) if I email or call?

Neither.
They're not allowed to tell the decision in email or over the phone. However, there are indications.
If you get a call and they tell you to come to the police station, this usually means that the decision is positive. Otherwise, you usually get a letter with the decision.
If you have the verified-identity login (bank or poliisi ID), then you can see the decision on Migri e-service website.
Every case is unique. You can't measure the result of your application based on arbitrary anecdotes online.

I have applied abroad, in the embassy, so I guess I have to go to the embassy in any case.
Unfortunately, I don't have the verified identity since this is my first permit ever and I only been to Finland as a tourist before.

Thank you for your clarification. I'm hoping we'll get our decisions this month, it's been 9 weeks already and I'm kind of nervous.
