wanting a lhd carfor finland?

Post by chris h » Fri Mar 11, 2005 12:32 pm

i have been looking into lhd cars for the use in finland!
i see many questions relating to importing cars.

most of the questions i have asked myself!

if anyone is interested i viewed many lhd websites in the uk, i finally bought a car from a company called oakleaf automotive,
i found them to be very professional and accommodating.
they sort all the paperwork.

i purchased a focus estate with all the electrics, alloys low mileage 4yrs old
an ok price not as cheap as a rhd here in the uk, but compared to the finnish websites propbably £2000 cheaper than finland.

the guy i dealt with, was called tony very helpful.

just need to use the car for 6 months, i ve soon adjusted to the lhd.

hope this may help anyone who has the same dilemas as i!

Did your insurance company increase your premium for lhd?

Not sure I understand why it was dearer than a similar model rhd though... after all the original (retail) price of the car would have been less than the rhd version. :?

no the insurance was no different some companies don`t insure lhd here in the uk,

it was more expensive due to the niche in the market about 70,000 persons move abroad every year and feel it easier to buy the lhd drive before leaving, so the lhd traders obviously exploit the market1

and due to lack of knowledge importing a used car, its a lot easier and hassel free to let someone else deal with paper work involved!!
