Citizenship by descent 2?
Hello. my name is Gregg Sperlin and I am interested in the possibility of moving to Finland permanently. I was born in Canada, my mother is an ethnic Finn and my father is an ethnic German. I spent 3 months in Finland in 2003 (in Helsinki, Turkku, Tampere) and was very impressed with the Finnish culture and way of life. I understand there are problems in Finland just like anywhere else, unemployment, cost of living, xenophobia (I understand this is actually a major problem in Finland), long, cold winters (I lived in Edmonton, so I am used to it already). I also know Finnish is the hardest European language. So I really have two questions. F.o.a., what is the process for obtaining permanent residence? Second, is it true that there are free language schools for newly arrived residents? And also: is it possible to assimilate?
