Selling a foreign car in Finland

Post by Jakke23 » Tue May 10, 2005 4:43 pm

Does anyone know if it's possible to sell a Belgian car in Finland? I wanne travel with my car in Finland this summer. But afterwards I wanne stay in Helsinki and I won't need my car there anymore. So I wanne sell it there.
Does anyone know which papers I need? What about Finnish car taxes? Or are there any Finnish persons interested in buying my car?

If you sell your car when you get here you are going to have to pay taxes on it. Depends on the make and model of the car, but note the tax is based on the Finnish customs valuation of your car not the price you can sell it for.

I dont know if there will be any adjustments needed for it to conform to Finnish road standards, but possibly.

If you import car to finland as part of your removal goods:
- you don't pay customs taxes
- you can't sell car for 2 years
- only family members can drive this car for 2 years

If you just bring any car:
- you pay tax= roughly 50% from the current price of the same car (year, model) in Finland.
- then you can sell it (definetly cheaper than same car (year, model) with "finnish roots" )
