Types of residence permit

Hi everyone,

I am non-Eu and a PhD student with an employment contract. I got my first residence permit type B for my first year and I am going to extend my residence permit.

My question is: what types (B or A) RP I will get for the extension of RP when I have a working contact with the university? How can I get the residence permit type A?

If the University renew your contract every year and provide you only 1 year contract at a time then you will most likely get B. If you current contract is valid for 2 years or more with possibility to renew further you may get A.
