Move to Finland?

Post by dandare » Wed Jun 08, 2005 11:58 am

Hi everybody,

I have the opportunity of an unlimited period contract in Finland starting at 3000 Euros (gross salary). I'll work in IT industry for an local employer in Espoo.

Which are your opinions? I'll come in Finland alone, but I'm thinking to relocate also my family starting with the next year. I'm from Romania.

Thank you,
Dan

3000 gross is about 2000 net. Depending where you will live in Espoo (and where the employer is); public transport + apartment in some cheap area will make you able to save some to have the ends meet if you then need a bigger apartment for the family; but not so much luxury necessarily after you have to support the family.

I won't say anything exact about monthly expenses. Everyone lives a different life and uses different amounts of money. Living on rice and vitamin pills saves a big amount of money in on year. But you won't starve.

Look on this board , many things are already answered.

I translated some words incase you don't understand Finnish

For possible public transportation :

http://www.matkakortti.net/laskuri/2005.html
Good calculator but only in Finnish.
Aikuinen = adult
Koko seutu (YTV) = Espoo , Vantaa , Kauniainen , Helsinki
kotikuntani: Where you live
Haltijakohtainen kortti = you won't propapble be using this. Multiusercard

Everyone working in the IT industry will need internet access :lol:
laajakaista = broadband
Like everywhere different isps have different rules , some don't allow keeping own servers and so on
