municipality of residence
municipality of residence
I am moving to Helsinki with my family from a EU country for an 11 month work contract, staying at least a year. We need to do the 'registration of an EU citizen’s right of residence' I think; does this give the same rights to and subsidies for daycare (municipal or private) or do we also need a 'municipality of residence' for this, which seems to require 'permanent' residence and a contract of at least 2 years? We will be paying tax in Finland so it seems odd if we have no right to any of these benefits and the pre-school education seems terribly expensive (we have experience in 2 EU countries where pre-school is almost free from a much younger age than 7!) thanks for any info.

Re: municipality of residence
Where did you get the idea of a 2 year minimum? A notification of move is required always when moving permanently (or temporarily for more than 3 months). https://www.maistraatti.fi/en/Services/ ... n-of-move/

see registration of foreigners: http://www.maistraatti.fi/en/Services/p ... formation/
You apparently need to prove to stay for one year (employment contract?) ; on other websites it is mentioned 2 years, but that might be for non-EU.

Re: municipality of residence
For EU citizens registration of right of residence is sufficient. The two year reference only concerns people on temporary residence permits.chialo wrote: ↑Tue Apr 24, 2018 11:22 amsee registration of foreigners: http://www.maistraatti.fi/en/Services/p ... formation/
