How long it takes to process a Specialist case to be processed? (Applied Online)

Post by theteslaa » Tue Jul 24, 2018 11:12 am

Hello everybody,

I'm a developer hired by a company in Helsinki. i'm in IRAN. my application is in 'Waiting for processing' status:

7/2/2018 We have received your application and it is pending.
7/12/2018 A customer number has been created for you. You can see your customer number at the top of the page. (My name)
7/12/2018 You have proved your identity and a diary number has been created for your application. You can see the diary number at the top of the page. Your application has been placed in the processing queue. We will contact you if we need more information from you. Our processing times can be found on our website at www.migri.fi

i paid and fingerprinted at embassy of Finland in Tehran/Iran at 07/03/2018 exactly one day after i submitted my application in EnterFinland eService.
but it took about 9 days after that day for the embassy to to provide me the customer number. it's about 12 days after my application went to 'Waiting for processing' i did not sent any email to EnterFinland but i don't know how much it will take for them to process my application.
A friend of mine from Iran hired by the same company 3 months sooner than me, and his processing time just took less than 2 weeks!
i'm very stressed please tell me what to do i don't want to put my contract on any risk.

Right now is peak of summer holidays so my guess is all applications are a little slower in this period.

You mean they don't care about applicants who signed a contract and have a limited time to get there?
It's not fair...

I applied on July 2nd too. They received my application on July 4th, so it's been 26 days and there's no update.
Lets hope for a status update this week, most probably they were on summer vacation :)

You can always see what is the estimate in processing times: https://migri.fi/en/processing-times

For specialist permit is 1 month and there are 3067 applications in the queue.

Hello,
That thing is always showing the same number "3067" , it's a hardcoded number and does not query anything such as a database or somethings.
So infact you can't see how many people are ahead in the queue.

According to the website "migri.fi" you have to calculate the estimated time from the day you have proved your identity. So if you just like me sent your application at 02.07.2018 that doesn't mean your deadline is 02.08.2018 because you have to see the third line and check from the date you have proved your identity.

Yes, that's how I calculated. It's been 34 days since I proved my identity, and I will be in Finland at the end of August to start working on September 3rd. Should I be nervous and write an email to immigration office?

And btw,
Afaik, having a specialist RP process is enough to start working in Finland if you have a valid visa to stay (such as touristic schengen visa), which means I don't have to wait for the decision before moving there. Is this correct?

Thanks.

I think I remembered that from the link below. Hopefully it's still valid.
https://migri.fi/en/artikkeli/-/asset_p ... skelulupaa

"Specialist: You may work in Finland for three months without a residence permit
If you are coming to Finland to work as a specialist, you can arrive without a residence permit and work here for three months. In this case, you need to have a visa or the right to stay in Finland visa-free during this time as well as a job."

It is most likely still valid. Note: "Submit the carefully filled in application soon after arriving in Finland, to make sure that your right to work does not expire."

Thank you!

So now the questions is, how can I prove that I'm going to work as a specialist when I enter the country?
Will it be enough to provide with the printouts of ongoing RP process, or should I get a separate official paper indicating the situation?
Maybe that's something I should discuss with the consulate or immigration office.

Hi guys, did you manage to get your specialist resident permits. I’ve been waiting for 44 days now and it’s still waiting for processing.
