RP advice

Post by Dj10264 » Mon Aug 13, 2018 10:37 am

Hi all,

I’d like some advice, I have recently found employment in Helsinki and I need to apply for a Specialist RP (I think that’s what it’s called) I was told by the company that I could apply for a normal visa and once I’m in Finland I could proceed with the Specialist RP. I called the embassy in South Africa and they mentioned that I need to apply for the Specialist RP here and cannot work in Finland without it.

I would also love for my GF to move over with me, I was thinking she could apply for a RP as a family member (Cohabitant) as we’ve been staying together for over 4 years now.

So based on this I had a few questions.

1. Do I apply for a normal visa in South Africa and apply for the Specialist RP in Finland?

2. Could my GF apply for a normal visa in South Africa and apply for RP based on family ties in Finland?

3. Should we rather do both RP applications from South Africa? My only concern is that it takes quite a long time. I think some people were speaking about 9 months.

Thanks in advance :)

Are you or your employer in a rush to get you working? If yes, then visa and then RP here. Have you looked at https://migri.fi/en/specialist/en ? There is no mention about 9 months, but one and two months are. Your GF should see: https://migri.fi/en/moving-to-finland-t ... ily-member and https://migri.fi/en/cohabiting-partner- ... nce-permit now you see the 9 months pop up...

Visa is for visiting, Residence Permit for residing.

Thanks for the response. I have checked on Migri.fi and I’m happy to have found some answers.

Basically what I found was that if we both apply at the same time our applications will be considered together and therefore will receive an outcome much earlier than I initially thought.
