Hei all
I'm English and currently in the process of moving to Finland with my girlfriend, who is a native, around September time. I was hoping that someone could help me with where to start finding work. Most of the websites I have looked on appear to be mainly or all in Finnish. I am working in the graphic design industry and hoping to find work in the field over there, but obviously I may have work elsewhere in the meantime. If anyone can help it will be greatly appreciated, any info would be good so if anyone can, please do reply to this
Kiitos
P.S. We are moving to the Helsinki area. Does anyone also know of any good (and not too expensive) flats in Kampii, Ullanlinna, Töôlö, Hakaniemi or any other nearby areas?
Job dilemma!!! Can anyone help at all with finding work?

These areas have only expensive flats, seriously expensive... See http://www.oikotie.fi or http://www.etuovi.com and you'll agree with me.not too expensive) flats in Kampii, Ullanlinna, Töôlö, Hakaniemi

True why does everyone think I am weird for living out here in Maunula! I pay less rent, and get lots of forests and a hiking hut! And can be downtown in 20 minutes.
Everyone thinks Kampi Toolo and Kallio are the placest to be.
I quite like Haaga or Pasila if I was moving again... And I haven't explored the other side of the city yet. If I was going to spend cash, the new end of Bulevardi and the island with the consulates on it are much nicer and just as central (except Toolo, which wins me over until I visited a friend there yesterday and realised she will have no privacy / roads come August)
(Sim in answer to your other question... yes I think it would be a good idea, I alone would appreciate it)
There is a list of housing terms translated here http://www...com/sauna/viewtopic.php?t=212 plus an overview of renting with a load of links at the end http://www...com/sauna/viewtopic.php?t=94

Hello! I lived in Finland for awhile, and found work as a waitress for various places through "Capital Restaurant Services OY". They are a temp/ staffing agency for the service industry. This would be a good bet to find work fast! They are located in downtown Helsinki, pretty close to the main railway station.
I dont know if I should mention this, but as far as housing went, I wanted my own place, downtown in the center (which is Crazy expensive!!!), so I lived kinda "silently" in an "artist's studio" space (which was actually a boiler room) for 3 months. The rent was dirt cheap, I had my own little 18m2 place in one of the most gorgeous buidings in the centre!
Good luck!

wow, that sounds wicked! 440 eur isn't bad for that, and hakaniemi is close to pretty much everything in the center. for jobs (graphic designer), why not try one of these digital media / marketing agencies:dave1974 wrote:Thanks for your help just found a flat in Hakaniemi for 440 - 40sqm (2h + kk + kph) with balcony and sea view pretty amazing!!!!! Oh and water & internet are included))
