Quality of a degree programme?

Postby apple123 » Sun Jun 24, 2012 4:13 pm

Hi. I just finished high school and I have some doubts what to study next. I live in Estonia and my study results were really good compared to the average of my country.
I was accepted to the Degree Programme in Design at Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences, but as I understood this is not like a real university. So my question is that when I will finish this degree, what are my future prospects for fining a job and can I study a master's degree in a real university after finishing this bachelor's degree? Studying Finnish is not a problem for me as Estonian is quite similar so language would not become a problem for me. I am just thinking if KYAMK is a good enough place to study at?

UAS is not like an university as you said - it's a "polytechnic". You get also a Bachelor degree, but its educational methods are more focused on market needs than research. It's more practical (work-related) than theorical. It's true that nowadays the differences are being smaller than in the past, however, as your wish is to find a job... I think UAS could be enough for you.

Also, remember that you got masters degrees taught at UAS for people who studied at an UAS. Example: http://bit.ly/Kver50

Good luck on your choice.
