About studying in finland......

Postby Miguel129 » Thu Jul 12, 2012 10:32 am

Well , hi , i'm new here so i here's my situation

I have been considering on studying in finland and as far as i have seen as an non EU citizen the only things i need in order to live and study in finland are the visa and the residence permit right? I wanna know what are the requeriments for the residence permit as an student , and is it hard to get it accepted??

The other thing that i wanted to know is that if i can get a part time job in order to maintain myself in finland?? Because some people say that you can't but i have seen that you can but with the limitation of 20 hours per week , Plus i've seen that as a requeriment for both visa and residence permit you need to show that you have a bank account with 6000 euros or to show that someone will supply you with money during your stay in finland , so is this mandatory or with showing that i'm gonna work during my stay is enough??

Well , i guess that's everything

Cheers

Visa is for visiting (up to three months), Residence Permit is for residing.

For RP you need a place to study and 6000e in bank account, usable in Finland. You know, food costs, lodging costs, study materials costs...

You have read www.migri.fi and www.studyinfinland.fi ?

Showing that you are going to work is enough. How to show it? With work contract. Getting the contract before you get the RP that you get only after you show how you are going to support yourself... ;)

If you come here to study, then the studies should be your main goal, that is why the working hours during semesters are limited.

And If you read more, you'll see that getting a job can be hard without marketable skills and when you can't speak the local language. Which in Finland is Finnish.

and besides the €6000,- you also need a medical insurance as a student.
