The Ballon d'Or is a quite famous award given by the most popular French football magazine every year... Awarding the best players of the world...

Well I'd recommend these two:

Paul Scholes (Angleterre - Manchester United)
Ruud Van Nistelrooy (Pays-Bas - Manchester United)

But then again I'm a bit biased  Hang on i'll try and make a more balanced selection :!:

Well obviously I support Pauleta... However, I would vote Nedved.

DECO, of course! :D :D :D :D

I had seen the list before and I could not decide which would be my candidate. My guess is that the winner will get it not only for his talent and performance during the last season(/year?). I'm thinking of Becks, Ronaldo or Zizou (is it like that?).

Pauleta? Nop, next year perhaps, after scoring the silver goal on the euro04 final against france:-)

The only thing I know about soccer is that it's played with 11 and that there's this round leather thing involved...

But I go for Van Nistelrooy! Definately!

I like the look of Nedved, too...

...but I'll ask (because I can't be arsed to check) what the ratio of defenders to midfielders to strikers is in that list. 'Tis easier for a rich man to go through the eye of a needle than for a back to become footballer of the year.

Best defender there:

Alessandro Nesta (Italie - Milan AC)

He made my top 6 too.

For the best goalie, there is not too many choices, only Oliver Kahn is a nominee, but I believe there are better goalies than him nowadays...
