Inline skating

Post by irnbru » Tue May 24, 2011 12:06 pm

Anyone into inline skating? Just started getting into it myself. An informal group skate round some scenic bits of Helsinki might be fun.

I wanted to learn skating, but due to lack of encouragement I just backed out from buying the skates.
I am assuming that you guys already know skating !!
It would be nice if someone could give me tips/brief me about places where I could learn.

Cheers.

I got my skates from here:

Like everything else they are more expensive in Finland. I dunno how to learn other than putting them on and giving them a go. I used to ice skate as a kid though so I think that helped a lot. Maybe try practicing somewhere where there is something to grab onto when you feel like falling. I taught my 4 year old son in an empty swimming pool in a nearby park where he could hold on to the sides.

Hi,
At the end of August i'll be fetching my roller blades from home and I would love to join. Can you please let me know, when and how you are organising "outings" ?
Many thanks.

Nothing got organized due to a lack of response. PM me or reply to this thread if you want to go rollerblading around Helsinki sometime.

There is this on Wednesdays:

I can never make that time though. So if anyone wants a skate another time let me know.
