Target Shooting Finland

Post by DPE1978 » Tue Apr 02, 2013 3:31 pm

I am an Australian with a Finnish wife. My wife and I (and our family) are visiting Finland over the Finnish summer this year.

We will be driving from Helsinki to Rovaniemi via Turku (where we are taking a cruise on the Viking Grace).

I would really love to do some target shooting at a rifle range while I am in Finland. Can anyone recommend a good rifle range that allows tourists to shoot?

Australia has very very strict gun laws and bans on semi-auto rifles; I understand that you can shoot really fun semi-auto's like AR-15's in Finland, is that correct? (According to Wikipedia it is legal for civilians to own AR-15's for hunting and sorting use in Finland).

I have an Australian gun license for target rifle and pistol shooting, but I doubt that means a thing as a tourist in Finland?

These guys do packages for both pistols and long guns. They're based close to Jyväskylä

If you want to shoot ARs and AKs, you need to find some mates to spread the cost, otherwise it's pricey :(

I'd guess that you'll get to shoot full auto too. And then it gets pricey. You should get 7.62x39 surplus for something like 30c/cartridge when buying in bulk, but Lapua is over 1€... 30/magazine and 3 seconds to empty it... well money is only paper, eh?
