Oh dear ... this one comes up from time to time ... unfortunately with little result usually.

I'm not a big rugby fan myself so haven't checked lately, but last time this came up the conclusion was Talin!

Maybe some matches pop up on the French channels if you've got cable ... I watched England v Australia WCfinal on that - a bit frustrating unless you know French well ... or try to get live commentary over the radio...

Because of the [place expletive here] SKY or some other [place expletive here] [place expletive here]s have bought the rights, so nothing to do with the fact [place expletive here] that you can't watch this [place expletive here] channel here in Finland, the channels that do show rugby - like TV5 a France-Ireland game - or even the [place expletive here] RADIO - it goes off air because of the [place expletive here] SKY and other [place expletive here]'s [place expletive here] [place expletive here] [place expletive here] policies. So write to the [place expletive here] rights owners and tell them they are a bunch of [place expletive here].

Short version: watch ice hockey.

That Irish bar in the center of Tallinn.

As I recall, the Helsinki rugby team used to go over watch the rugby there. Depending on how much one drinks, it may even be cheaper than if it were in FInland.

Well if they get SKY in Tallin, how come they don't get it in Helsinki. Sounds to me like the bar owners don't see a big enough market in it.

Also it is the BBC that owns most of the rights to the rugby internationals, so as much as I hate Mr Murdock and his evil empire I can't blame him for this one.

If you get Sky you get S4C (welsh channel), they show most of the rugby internationals, although commentry in welsh.

Lions...Barbarians..there are at least two UK rugby teams..both of which would probably claim to be "The" UK team..but the lions get my vote as the Baa Baas have a habit of picking the odd froggy or two.

The bartenders in Finland have to obey some rules re. copyright & having an UK address + pay TEOSTO and KOPIOSTO fees etc.

It was during the 6 nations was it now that TV5 dropped some of the games. And it happens on internet radio too. Seems to effect the Irish team (atleast thats why I got my ears singed). But yes, no, the SKY issue is that it just isn't available here.

As for obeying rules with Sky. The Marriott, Shereton and Intercontinental hotels in Warsaw Poland all have sky sports so there must some legit way of doing it. I can't imagine these guys would do anything illegal.

Well, this is from their homepage:

I want to have Sky in a premises that is not in the UK or Republic of Ireland?

Sorry, Sky is only available to businesses and organisations within the UK and Republic of Ireland.

Maybe they are "creative" with the addresses....

Someone might write to SKY and ask how this is then possible, theres such 'pieces of UK or Ireland' around...
