Appropriate duds for da orchestra

Post by deojuvame » Thu Nov 27, 2003 2:26 pm

Hey all-
So I'm going to go see an orchestral performance at Finlandia Hall. (Esa-Pekka: rock star in composer drag?) What's appropriate wear for women?

Once more I will bemoan the fact that women can't do the same thing as men usually do in these sorts of situations and throw on the same suit for all occasions :)

Daah.. Esa Pekka Salonen is actualy the conductor but he did /does compose...

Unless you are expecting to be invited onto the podium or are hoping for an invite to some posh restaurant from EPS afterwards.. dont expect anyone will care what you wear.
Finlandia Hall is not a "tie tails and tiara" venue ..but it it is also not a jeans and sneekers venue.
Smart, not too casual, and comfortable.
Trouser suit I suspect will be the most common lady wear with the current "loverly" weather.

OK, from careful sociological observation I have discovered the correct way for women to dress when catching the symphony in Helsinki. The closest description would be: "dress like someone at your workplace died". I guess that would about cover all the bases.
