Hi All,
Having spent a longtime learning to snowboard (mostly on a very painful plastic artificial slope, that gives you nasty Carpet Burns!!), I was wondering about the season for this sport in Finland, I plan to live in Helsinki and would wish to drive max 2 hrs to get to a slope, I don't want anything to crazy, just the ability to practice and improve what I already know.... ( I have no desire to throw myself off a cliff like those exteeme nutters do on MTV etc)
Do any of you snowboard and if so how easy is it to do this from helsinki, or is it a matter of driving north for a few days at a time?
And has anyone tried Iceyachting as that looks like a lot of fun!!
Snowboarding anyone..
Snow boarding/Skiing..the nearest slope is only 20 kilometers from down town Helsinki place called Korpi Lampi but it is not a big slope. but fun.
The nearest real slope is at Lahti and that is an olympic world championship slope.

One hour north of Helsinki .
You can also Ski Jump there
There is a near by family Ski center at Messilä

. lucky for you The Big one is closed for jumping but you can take the the lift up to the top view is great.
There is a near by Ski musuem and the have a ski jump simulator for those not brave/crazy enough to try the real thing
I tried it and have a certificate to prove that I jumped 102 meters!
