Is there a good place to make my hair dreads in Tampere? And how much do you think it costs to me?

I don't know about good places, but barber's shop's website might give you some info about prices. First one that I googled sets a price to 200e+
http://www.rasta.fi/hinnasto3.htm
That place might be good (or not) because it is named Rasta (=dreadlock in finnish).

This is an old thread, but I thought I'd give some feedback on the hairdresser at Rasta in Tampere. I got my dreads done there a couple of months ago from my own hair. It's my second head of dreads, as I've had dreadlocks a long time ago as well, for 7 years.

While my dreads are turning out okay, I wouldn't recommend the hairdresser I had (who apparently is the only one they have anymore these days). Firstly, she didn't section my hair before starting. This is not 100% necessary to the dreadmaking process, but I prefer the hair being sectioned first. For one, it gives the locks a more uniform look. It also avoids the problem the hairdresser ran into while making my dreads: the hair at the front of my head "didn't really fit" into any of my existing dreads. There was too little hair left in the front, because she had made the dreads without planning ahead by sectioning it first. She then said that we'd just leave that hair undreaded. I ended up dreading that hair myself at home afterwards. I've also needed to combine the dreads near the back of my neck because she made those really tiny compared to the rest of my head. I think this was also a result of not sectioning the hair, because those dreads in the back are the first ones she did.

In addition, she didn't really listen to my request of not using wax in my hair. Once the dreads had been made, she finished them off by applying wax on them. It took me 8 weeks before they stopped smelling like wax after showers. I understand that she might like the use of wax in dreads, but she was working completely opposite of what I had told her. I was too nice to object while she was doing it, figuring the wax would slowly wash out over time. I'm not sure how much of a residue there is left now, but at least they don't smell horrible anymore.

I also didn't like how loosely she backcombed my dreads. Loops and bumps are natural in young dreadlocks, but I feel they could be less severe if the hairdresser would have tightened them more.

All in all, I'm not going to comb them out despite the bad start, mostly because I'm lazy, but also because dreadlocks don't have to be perfect. However, if I could go back in time, I would search for a different hairdresser, perhaps someone in Helsinki.
