I was talking with a half American (US) and half Finnish girl the other day. What she said made me smile...

She said ''Finnish women just don't know how to celebrate and enjoy their own bodies, there is no rhythm''...''and if their anything like the men'' she said ''they have not discovered foreplay''

Now I don't agree with all of what she said but come to think of it..if you don't know your own body, how can you ask anyone to enjoy it? Femininity is sadly lacking in this country with visually beautiful women...and because its lacking this somewhat surface beautiful starts to look very ugly indeed.

What do I care I have a Dutch women (a real women)...there is a god after all! THANK YOU!!!!!

I am an Aussie girl living in Finland. My husband is Finnish and the reason why he has chosen a foreign wife is because "Finnish women try too hard to be like men". His words, not mine. They try to work like men, drink / smoke like men, talk like men. He also said that "if he wanted to be with someone that acted like a man, then he would be gay". But he's not gay, he is straight. Girls, try to retain some of your femininity. So, the opinion that Estonian women apparently dress the way they do, more power to them. I have seen some stunning Finnish women & some stunning Estonian women, who dress and behave nicely. I have also seen some Finnish and Estonian women that dress and behave like tramps. Same goes in Australia. I guess it's up to the girl how she wants to dress. Sometimes I want to dress like a tramp to get attention, but sometimes I want to dress conservatively too. It depends on the situation. Big deal.......why judge! If they are stealing the Finnish men, maybe the Finnish women are missing something they need to find again.....

Slightly unrelated, but it always stings me when men complain about women "trying to work like men". Well why shouldn't they? And what is "working like a man" anyway? Not being a pullantuoksuinen housewife/nurse/teacher? I work just as much and as hard as a man in my position would and I earn as much money. How is this at odds with being feminine?

Just to ask but in what context have you heard the "trying to work like a man" saying? i don't think i have heard this before. Was it to do with physical work? Thats the only work where there is a difference is that springs to mind! of course there are exceptions, to this rule.

I was referring to what jonellequin wrote. However, I have heard this before. Usually the type of work has not been an issue; rather, the hours worked and the money earned. Some people seem to have a big problem with a woman earning a lot of money, which I don't quite understand - more money for the couple/family, right?

This reminds me of a friend of mine, who dresses in a feminine way and drives a truck for a living. Her theme song is "The Truck Driving Song" by Weird Al Yankovic... ("Driving a truck with my high heels on...") Although the work itself is not physically demanding in the traditional sense, she has been given a lot of !"#¤% about her choice of career.

Ah yes, a female truck driver probably goes along the same lines a´s a male nurse i guess. Unusual as the position is mostly filled by the opposite sex. I think i woudl be very happy if my g\f earned twice my wage... now you have me thinking...maybe time for a change

But i think the people who have a problem with a woman earning more money than them are in the same bracket as the people who hate to see foreigners doing the same in their country, its all just jealousy.

And does he think he's gay? It was quite a shock to me to discover I was gay.

If a woman dresses this way or that in order to please men, that is a shame. Being feminine or not is an inborn quality, and it has nothing to do with nationality!

Finnish women don't talk like men, it's the majority of Finnish men talk the "wrong" way. Sounds cute though.

What a silly thread... I have a few comments which I must share on this, although continuing the thread seems counter-productive:
- posters really should not think that what your partner says to you in this situation is really the truth. If the partner says that (s)he cannot imagine being with an Australian or Finnish or Estonian or Russian or whatever the nationality of the next poster's partner, then (s)he is either an idiot or just giving you some compliment. Of course, if (s)he finishes with you then he would look for another compatible person, and it would probably be different from your nationality. I would guess that this is either just lover's chat... not to be taken too seriously. It is my humble opinion that people in dual nationality relationships often have strong opinions about competition from the partner's own country, and I often hear from mixed relationship friends of mine comments such as 'my boyfriend/ husband says he would never again date a Brit/ Finn/ etc'. But when the male is on his own it seems he has different opinions.
- secondly some posters seem to really get carried away with the stereotypes, I have seen ugly and pretty people in most countries, fat and thin, confident and shy... but not all Finns dress down, not all Estonians dress up, not all Brits are fat.
- national traits can be seen by some as positive and some as negative. Dominant or submissive... small or tall... out-going or shy... which are better?
- my wife is a very feminine lady, dresses well, has a good job and is certainly my equal... but I guess Iyou could also find ladies who fit these criteria in most countries
- high heel shoes, short skirts and lots of make up sometimes looks good, sometimes looks aweful... a well dressed person knows what to wear and when to wear it.
- of course seeing a lady in nice clothes and nice make-up is one thing, but if this becomes a lifestyle then you also have to put up with the hours in the bathroom and the cost of new shoes/ clothes/ haircuts etc etc. A better solution for me is that my wife dresses up when the right occasion comes along, and then I can look at other beautiful women whose husbands have to put up with their lifestyle!
