There is also a considerable number of cat-haters who regard them as pests or a nuisance, especially when it comes to issues such as the cat using the children’s sandbox as a litter box (the risk of contracting toxoplasmosis) or taking on a habit of peeing on someone’s porch, or the cat going on a rampage and decimating the bird population in the area. Some of these concerns are probably exaggerated but there are people who feel very strongly about this and it is not unheard of such people shooting or otherwise killing stray cats. (Killing a stray cat is illegal unless you make very sure it actually isn’t a pet, but not all people follow the law to the letter.)

No, I'm not a vegetarian. And... um... I fail to see your comparison. I do think animals that are bred for food, including egg laying hens, should be treated ethically. But no, I fail to see how one has anything to do with the other.

So... are you either a vegetarian or a pro-dumping-animals-on-the-street?

I'm locking this topic, it's getting out of hand and off-topic anyway.
